overdue...

So last week I'm out front at the Big Bend Motor Inn having coffee with my buddy Chuck.  A guy comes up and introduces himself and asks about The Field Lab.  We chat for awhile and it turns out he services ATM's and payphones in the area.  Next time he comes south, he's gonna swing by and crack open my payphone so I can get it working (those things are locked up pretty good).  Decided today's project was to prep for a concrete pad so I can bolt it into place next to my incoming phone line.  94,104,70,0,B

no doubt you have looked at this, but just in case

looks like an operation made a world easier if you have the right tools and keys - kinda mini Ft. Knox for less change than most people have in a can by their dresser.
Maybe once yours is functional, you can give this one a call...

actually, this was the one I was thinking of:

It's a Gary Larson cartoon - Benita using the phone, in the moonlight, to call her shorthorn cousin in Gunnison... just to say "moo".

Been playing with pay phones for a long tome, if you have the keys to get in, it only takes about five or ten minutes to jumper around the coin switch. No keys, then it takes a few minutes to drill out the locks. No big deal really. There are lots of places to buy kits that upgrade it to push button.

That's going to be so cool! Kinda looks like you've got it positioned right where you park the truck, though. Oh, well, the artist knows best. Can't wait to see it in person, and make a call. I'll bring a roll of quarters!
