free range wifi...

Guests went on their way today.  Had a great visit with the boys.  It will take a couple of days to get used to being alone out here.  This morning - IT Neil set me up with a hacked Linksys wireless router to act as a repeater for my wifi enabled DSL modem.  Now I have extended range and it can run off its' own solar charged battery system.  98,104,75,0,B

What operating system did he use on the router? My favorite is DD-WRT, but there are others, such as Tomato. It is crazy what you can do with the WRT-54G once it is hacked.

Hope to make it down your way again real soon. That is after I get through visit'n all these lakes in Texas along with a visit to the gulf coast before head'n back to Deming. Should be nice and cool by that time.

Love the pic, it looks like an alien landing in the desert! Happy routing! Glad you enjoyed your visitors, looked like a good time was had by all.

Just a router on the range. You will be able to stay connected all over the Field Lab. Nice for guests, too. They can get on-line with their smart phones while there.

Glad you had a good visit with the boys. I know y'all had fun.
